Joan Didion is one of my favorite authors. I first met her during a high school English class. Later in life, while living in the East Bay, I re-read her with a new perspective.
For three years, I've been promising to kickstart a blog chronicling my adventures in the DC metro area. For three years, I've been stalling.
My mother was just diagnosed with stage III cancer. I recently finished Joan's "Year of Magical Thinking" - composed under different circumstances, but an equally apt tribute to loss, grief, change, and an attempt to move forward.
Joan, this whiskey shot's for you... here's to 2011, and an honest documentation of whatever adventures lie ahead.
